For the past month or so I have been feeling kind of sick, nothing too bad, just achy, stomach pains, the odd flu symptom, etc. I wrote it off as stress or working too much and even thought I may just have a flu bug, but it didn't go away.
Last week I was in severe pain, to the point where I couldn't get off the floor in my living room. It was bad, I am NOT a crier but the pain was so bad I was curled up on the couch for 4 days withering in pain with tears in my eyes. Went to the doctor and had an ultrasound done, blood work and a breath test (I think that is what it is called). They said they believe I have a stomach or peptic ulcer and it may require surgery. I am going back to my regular doctor in two weeks to discuss it. I have a very weak immune system due to a health issue which arose when I was younger (but is now under control and has been for several years) but it still left me with a crappy immune system. I have been doing a bit of research but was wondering if anyone had any information or insight?

I had what you have for one year before I was properly diagnosed. From what you are saying they have diagnosed you with H.Pylori, which is what plagued me. There is a specialist clinic in Toronto I can recommend if you want. They not only found what many many other doctors told me was in my head, but also found an issue with my liver.
If they have given you the HPac to get rid of the infection follow the directions carefully. Keep in mind that once you have H.Pylori you can become reinfected at any time, for no reason. You may blood test negative and it may come back. If you have a perforated or bleeding ulcer than surgery very well may be needed. I was lucky - mine was not perforated or bleeding. Thats about all the information I'm willing to put publicly..haha. PM me if you want the clinic in Torontos information and my personal experience with this.

agree with the above !!!
sprouts -- get them at Nature's Emporium - the growers are in Stouffville , which is where I will be tomorrow. After my session I am heading to Yonge and Savage (how do you love that name for an intersection ) , to Nature's Emporium. I'll get you the brand names. You can also get brocolli sprout powder (I have it by the pound) . Sulforaphane inhibits extracellular, intracellular, and antibiotic-resistant strains of Helicobacter pylori and prevents benzo[a]pyrene-induced stomach tumors food sources rich in ellagic acid -- Meeker red raspberry seeds being one of the best sources --- an ingredient in my Sunday Sundae - Ellagic Acid Cancer Treatment in this article Meeker red raspberries and strawberries are mentioned. It is the seeds , but here is the problem. The seeds have a very hard coat . This was a design to ensure that they could be spread far and wide. A birdy or animal would come by , eat of the fruit and then some hundreds of feet away would poop with the seed which has now had the seed coat damaged by the hydrochloric acid of the stomach . This damage allows for the seed to germinate . The benefits of the seed are not so available to us as we really have to masticate the tiny seeds to expose the insides where the ellagic acid is . So much better than fruit, for a therapeutic effect is to buy the seed very very finely ground , fine as talcum powder . More surface area exposed better ellagic acid availability. February | 2011 | insightful nutrition Split cell CHLORELLA good for so many things , another supplement I use . Chlorella / Algae Products Probiotics -- Gastritis All these things are in my supplements I am pretty good at getting out of the way products - use many of them . If you want anything and are having trouble finding it let me know and I'll see what I can dig up for you. Carmen Carmspack Working German Shepherd Dogs |

Kevin had H.Pylori last year. His doctor put him on a VERY heavy duty and nasty antibiotic, because of his crohn's they wanted to treat it very aggressively. He was pretty sick from the drugs during the entire treatment which was about a week.

Aw, that's awful Elisabeth! I'm glad they were able to figure out what was wrong with you so quickly though. Hope your doctors come up with a good solution for you!

I had the same thing just before Christmas-- mine was perforated, it's pretty crazy how it can mask itself as so many different things. I went to the ER and they sent me home... my cardiologist called in a favor to his GI friend and they did an endoscopy, lo and behold, bleeding ulcer/pinhole sized perforation. At the ER they had said, "oh, if there's no vomiting blood or anything, you don't have an ulcer"...right. Omeprasole (40 mg 2x daily) has worked wonders. No tomatoes, spicy food, chocolate, or fatty food...although I have no willpower when it comes to that I've found that dairy actually does the opposite and causes more acid production for me, so I've cut that out as well. No tomatoes, no milk, no spicy food... no fun Also, I read somewhere that red wine helps stimulate the growth of flora that can help soothe ulcers...can't hurt to try!

Thank you so much for the responses and suggestions and the well wishes.
I forgot about this thread - so, sorry for the late response! Carmen - definitely will check those links out! As well as the supplements. I have another doctors appointment next week so I will be seeing where I go from there. I have some other symptoms as well that make me think there is something else going on.. I don't usually pay much mind to my body when I am ill, I just complain and wait it out, but something just doesn't feel right.. add in the symptoms I have and well.. I'm a little nervous. I am actually looking forward to the doctors appointment to get some answers. I have been watching what I eat and will start looking into those supplements immediately as well! Thanks a bunch and I am sure I will be back with questions.
