Default Any breast cancer survivors?

So yeah.
I have to go next week for "more testing".

I need some positive input.

In the early 1970's, about 10 years before I was born, my granny was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was in her early 40's. I don't know all the details-- I know it was bad, I know it was 40 years ago and technology wasn't what it is today, and I know she had a mastectomy. I also know that she went into remission and stayed there for forty years, dying only a few years ago in her 80's (from something completely different) surrounded by children, grand-children, and her first great-grandchild.

Fingers and paws crossed for your testing tomorrow!

My friends mother beat breast cancer a little more than a year ago. She looks fantastic. She also had a large amount of the breast removed, but to look at her you couldn't tell.

Thinking of you. Stay positive.

well I just went thru this in July, went for my yearly mammogram, they wanted to redo, went back, saw some 'suspicious' dots so I had to go for a stereostatic biopsy (and let me tell ya never again!)....Turned out benign, just basically small cyst type thingy's...

They were removed and they put titanium 'bullets' in the spots to keep track..Anyway I have to go back for a follow up next month..Honestly I'm not worried about it..But I DID tell them, there could be 'rocks' growing in there, I will not have that type of biopsy again,,I developed a MAJOR infection at the site and it took 3 months to get rid of it..

Hope yours turns out to be nothing as well

Oh ouch.

check out this website Hot Topics: Breast Cancer
I am not trying to influence your decision in any way I just think doctors are not educating their patients. There are alot of unnecessary screenings and biopsies done out of fear and/or greed. I pray that you will get the all clear but if not please educate yourself about all the options available.

Thank you for the website!

I can tell you this is not fueled by profit since I have no insurance, and see the gvmnt clinic near to us. I mean the doctor who recommended a biopsy (since I have no insurance) won't get any kick backs and in fact didn't even recommend a surgeon, but did say if I knew of one closer to where we live, to get in there and have the biopsy done by the end of January.

My aunt is a breast cancer survivor. I believe she had stage 3. She is a college professor and I don't think she missed one day of class, even with the chemo and flying to see specialist (she has a very wealthy cousin that hooked her up with her specialist). I think my aunt did a drug trial or some new drug. She has been in remission for probably almost 10 years now. She has some complications with her lymph system, I don't really understand it all but she had to have these special massages down her arms. Being her creative, always-juggling-ten-balls self, she actually invented a special "sleeve" that somehow takes the place of these massages. She still wears it all the time.

I know more survivors than ones that were taken by breast cancer. And many who were diagnosed in there 30's or 40's are now in there 60's-70's....

Early detection is key, so they tend to be over cautious... I really hope they're just playing it safe. I too know of way more success stories, especially with early detection. My thoughts are with you, I hope the poking and prodding isn't too uncomfortable
