My gf has been getting a lot of migraines the last few years, this last year much worse.
The started going to acupuncture and they have all but disappeared. I am still on the fence about acupuncture, but honestly, it has helped her out tremendously. She was getting 4-8 a month now she has mad maybe 2 in 3-4 months She had to go like 4x a month for the first month, 2x the 2nd, then just once a month now - if she feels one coming on she can usually get an appointment that day. about $60/visit - which isn't bad once you get down to once a month. best of luck, i know it can be difficult on the person who doesn't get them too

They gave her 2 shots and a prescription for a pain pill if she needs them she tried ibuprofen and Excedrin migraine and neither of them helped at all. She hasn't had one in along time but ill tell her about the acupuncture I know it helped my old neighbors dog alot.

Oh man - I completely sympathize. I used to get horrible migraines when I was in my 20s. The good news is that by my 30s they became very infrequent. I get "auras" (mine look like triangles or Christmas tinsel) before the actual onset of the headache. So, I take a bunch of extra strength excederin, a couple of mountain dews and some strong coffee and I can usually abort the headache. I used to have a prescription for a drug called Cafergot that achieved the same effect.
Here at work, there will be women standing in the bathroom, under the bright lights saying "Oh I have such a migraine!" - sorry Charlie - that is a regular old headache. A migraine sort of feels like a salted axe splitting your head in two. You cannot bear to have light or noise around you. I used to have to be in bed with the lights out, an icebag on my head and trashcan to vomit in. From what I have read, the only thing worse is the cluster headaches. I hope her headache is short lived.

Or maybe they're just drama queens. There was a girl who worked with me years ago that was like that - no garden variety headache for her, it was always a migraine. Except of course that she'd never actually gone to a doctor and been diagnosed, it just sounded better than saying she had a headache, and she was all about the drama.

This past year, we had some scares with my husband. He has always had migraines, but he started getting cluster headaches and more migraines. He would have a headache, it would go away and the next day would come back. He's a pretty rough and touch guy and pushes back pain. This had him rolling in pain. I'll have to look for his meds to see what helps (don't have them with me) I think its imitrex and something else.
glad she is feeling better.
