I decided that's it's time to get healthy again. For me the most important thing is to incorporate some element of exercise into my daily life because when I exercise I tend to eat well.
Last year I did the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels and saw good results. 3 days ago I started again. I took my measurements at the beginning and will take them at the end and post the before and after measurements. I'm also going to incorporate some stair climbing a few days a week since I live in a 22 story high rise. If anyone else is doing the video, how are you doing with it? If you've done the video in the past, how were your results? If you have any other video recommendations, I'm all ears!

Easy with the stairs. They can wreck your knees. If you do stairs make sure to stretch right after, especially your quads.
For losing weight, I like walk/jog/run intervals where you intersperse walking and jogging/running at variable speeds. You can go farther and it is more fun than just walking or steady-pace jogging. |

This video is great! Just starting it again myself. I also really like her no more trouble zones video but it is way too long for me, I like a 20 minute workout. You can however cut and paste the circuits you want to do so that is nice. I'm ordering the biggest loser cardio max and weight loss yoga today so we'll see how those turn out!
Good luck! |

I also have the "No More Trouble Zones" video and it's pretty tough IMO. I'm going to give that one a real go when I'm done the Shred. I think when I did the 30 Day Shred last year, I lost 6 or 8" inches in total. That was measuring bust, waist, legs, arms, hips, and neck. Not bad.
PaddyD, I know what you mean about the yoga. It's one thing I never got into. It's definitely not easy, just not for me.

Hands down, the best bang for your buck and time:
The Kettlebell Way to the Perfect Body Volume 1. ETA: I tried to provide a link on amazon, but it didn't come through. Here is an article with research of how it is more efficient than other cardio and weight training, and it does it at the same time. kettlebells012010.pdf from acefitness.org - StumbleUpon I did 30 Day Shred and the DVD I posted gave better results, faster. If you do it, start with a 10 lbs KB,then move up to an 18 (if you are a woman--don't know about men). Another good one is The Ultimate Body Sculpt and Conditioning with Kettlebells DVD with Lauren Brooks : It has pushups, squat thrusts, and mountain climbers, which I hate......but if you like 30 Day Shred you may like this one, as well. The good thing with both is they do cardio and weight training in the same set. You do two minutes on, one minute rest, for 39 minutes. I don't dread doing it, so it keeps me motivated and not become a dust collector. Best of luck!!

Thanks Mary, I'll definitely check that video out! I love working with Kettlebells so this seems like something worth giving a shot.
