But some of my earliest memories are of Thanksgiving. We lived on Central Park and the balloons came right by our windows. My Dad always cooked and I learned a lot of the little tricks of this meal from him. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday but it is very bittersweet.
That is very sad. Sorry for your losses, I can see why Thanksgiving is a very rough day for you. Hugs

Except, in between making the potatoes, I had to drive to the city to pick up my Mom and then to a far corner of the county to pick up a great uncle. By the time I got back, the potatoes were seriously overdone. YUCK! Wish I had known you had some good mashed potatoes.

Tried to vacuum the basement and ran over a cord to the big screen. Broke it. Made my day. Fortunately, the TV still works, 'cause we will be watching the football game. Glad dinner is over, the dishes are done and the old folks are back home.

Happy Thanksgiving!
You left your potatoes!!!! I carefully stir them every so often and check them frequently to remove them from the burner the second they are soft enough. Probably that is what my secret is, removing them on time.lol Good thing your hubby did most of the cooking though!

After dinner and attending church, me and DH took our kids and attempted to hit the early black friday deals. There must be a record of shoppers out because it was awful. And after battling our way through the isles, it took us half an hour just to walk to the end of the line because the lines were so long. Then we left everything because I told DH that there was no way I was going to stand in that line for 4 hours just to save a few bucks.

We got home and I turned on the computer and I'd be darned-all the sales were available online. I just had to go to Toys R Us' website, and Best Buy and Walmart. I only ended up paying $2 for shipping because most items shipped free. Christmas shopping is done, what a pleasant end to a wonderful day.

BTW, dinner was awesome. And for dessert my brother outdid himself and brought 4 MamaJoe pies. Dutch Apple, Pecan, Pumpkin, and Chocolate Silk.

Our whole family played Havoc's favorite chase game. He was ecstatic. My house has a circular flow and Havs loves to be chased around with a toy in his mouth. Everyone took a turn. This was followed by Hide-n-Seek. Felony had as much turkey as she wants (hospice). I took both of the dogs for a walk after dinner.

I am glad that you and your family had lots of fun! What is wrong with Felony?

Went to my husbands biological fathers house. Got to see one of my BIL's who is finally home from Korea. He is stationed up in SC but got to come home for Thanksgiving.

Nothing big really, about 15 people, bonfire out back, turkey, ham and a little football.

I miss when family used to come over on Thanksgiving. My dad was glad to have us visiting yesterday, we found out more about his condition and what they're going to be doing, and brought him a piece of pecan pie. (He has to watch his diet, so that was all.)
Then when we got home my brother got me to play the xBox with him. Then I went to bed early (or fell asleep early, rather) while they went to Black Friday sales. (Some sale was going on at 10 PM, then midnight.)
