Default Possibly the Best Car For City Dwelling Owners!

So I've been doing a lot of research into cars for dogs, because we want to make sure the next car we get suits the dog we have.

I'm an SUV girl through and through. I wouldn't be caught dead driving a truck or a minivan. However, we also live in an area where a huge SUV would get very little practical use. We need a car that's easy to park, good on gas, and is convenient in layout for a dog. My requirements were as follows:
[LIST][*]2nd row captains chairs for easy access to the trunk of the car. [*]Small enough that I can park it easily, but large enough that I can easily fit a dog crate into it. [*]AWD[*]Does well on gas[/LIST

So I couldn't find the car. I looked and looked, and couldn't find it. Then one of my friends who works at a car shop told me to look up the new Mazda.

So I did, and holy butter-and-toast I found one of my strong contenders. The Mazda CX-5 is supposed to be coming out in 2012. The price is supposed to be announce next month at the LA Auto Show. It's supposed to have an optional diesel engine in later models. It has easy access to the trunk with a 40:20:40 ratio in the 2nd row. It's not too large, but still tall enough to count as an SUV and not a wagon. The estimated gas mileage is around 30mpg, which is incredible, because of the new technology in the engine. And, last but not least, it's rumored to be priced at $20,000-$25,000 .

MazdaUSA :: 2013 Mazda CX-5:: Compact Crossover SUV

I'm excited to see what this car can do. I think it's finally a turning point for the smaller crossovers/SUVs. Thought I'd share just in case anyone came on here looking at potential cars.

What kind of cars do you suburb/city dwellers drive with your dogs? What car do you wish you drove?

Toyota Matrix. Fits one crate or 3 GSDs who aren't crated. Gets 30mpg city and 35mpg highway. 155,000 miles with no issues, nothing done but routine maintenance. And the best part-- it's paid off.
