Do you ever call your dog by the name of a previous dog you've had?
I run into this so often. One of the reasons Knuckles stole our hearts is because he looks like a shepherd-rott mix we had named Bruno. I catch myself all the time wanting to call him Bruno. It was really bad when we first brought him home. And Saki looks just like my Max, who was also a shepherd mix (he was mixed w/a Golden Retriever, obviously! LOL), so I catch myself wanting to say Max occasionally.

I do it with fosters. Every new foster gets called the previous foster's name for a few days. Poor Holly kept getting called Paige which is a dog that I transported but didn't foster. They do look very much alike.
When I first got Raven, I kept accidentally calling her my friends' dog's name. I'd be sitting there saying "Lila, Lila, Lila! Oh, wait... Raven!" Lila is a 10lb yorkie-poo.

No, I do not mix their names up with previous dogs but I do mix them up with my other animals and friends animals.
I mix up Malice and my kitty Monster. I mix up Malice and my friend's female Doberman Addison. I always screw up and say Alice, Maddice or Madison.

Let's see....I do it with my human kids all the time. The dogs/kids names are all interchangeable around here. I often go through about 2 names before I land on the right one. Only one who gets their name is the cat. I did however accidentally call our pup Sherman by the name "havok" who was a long term foster that we had. Kaos' ears perked up, my 10 yr old got teary eyed...so I hope I don't make that mistake again.
