all you can do is pass on the telephone number of a suicide hot line in your area. that is all you can do.

Call the police. It's illegal to kill yourself, and they can get her into a 72 hr. emergency hold.

I think there are quite a few cases where people did this and the person on the other end called family members OR called the police with the location of the person they were chatting/emailing with.

So yes, you can call (or email if faster) someone in his family or just call the police or if you have (some places do) emergency mental health services...you will have done everything you can do in addition to giving him that number until someone gets there.

Yes. I believe you can even call 911 and explain, and they can get through to officers in that area.

It is an emergency and may save his life.

I might add, a girl on my facebook page said something about death being better than her life, this has been a few mos. ago, I went to the local PD and showed them the status update.
They got crisis response involved immediately, and they helped this girl and her family out tremendously.

Call the police... call a relative... call someone to intervene. That might night be a direct "i'm going to kill myself message", but it's definitely a cry for help.

You definitely need to do something.
