Default Up and Moving???

Okay, so I have had this idea in the back of my head for a few months, it comes and goes, about just up and moving somewhere I have never been before and don't know anyone there. Something just for like a year or so, just to be on my own and experience something new. I love it here in the Show Low area, and I plan on ending up here, but the idea of living somewhere where I don't know anyone or have ever been kind of intrigues me. I have been looking at houses here and the few I have put offers in on have wound up having something going on that I don't get it. If I did move somewhere away I would most likely have to leave my horse. Glock would obviously come with me, but I can't see managing to bring Geronimo with me. Also I am such a.... money aware person that I can't bring myself to renting something somewhere. It just does not make sense to me when you can buy something for less than the price of renting. I have looked at Louisville, Kentucky and they have dang cheap houses out there.

Anyways, just thinking out lout to cyberspace.

I've had the opportunity to live and move all over the world, to places where we didn't know anyone.

After living abroad, I have to say that Colorado was the best fit for us. Homes are much cheaper and you get lots of house and land for your money. The lifestyle is more laid back and being outdoors year round was great.

We joke that we get "itchy feet" every few years to move. We've been here for almost 5 years and truthfully, we can't wait to go back to Colorado.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to explore your options and spreading your wings.

If you're gonna do it, do it young... Prices are cheap in much of the South, but if you don't have the right skills or trade good jobs can be hard to find.

I've always said that if it wasn't for the fact that I have to have my animals, I would be a gypsy. I would love to live all over the world, just moving on when I felt like it.

My gf has kind of done the "gypsy" life. Three years ago they sold everything they owned, gave up everything they had and bicycled across Europe, I'm not sure of the exact route, but they ended up in Austrailia eventually and then they flew to South America. The pictures of her after the bike trip - OMG what a body. Now they live in the British Isles. I don't know if they are super wealthy, I know he's a blacksmith, she doesn't work. Where they are now in the Highlands, they grow most of their food, they were the proudest parents the first time one of their hens laid an egg.
I'm very envious of their lifestyle, I have always wanted a year abroad, living in France probably...
If you can do it, do it! Dh and I had lived in the same city for 17 years each, we decided we didn't want to be there anymore, moved to a small town a little further south of where we were. It was a nice start to our life together honestly, parts of it suck, we don't have family or friends close, but we joined organizations, joined a church, started to get known in the community and we love it here. We maybe went a month without a dinner invite ROFL.

I did that when I came here except I knew my fiance. It was really fun. I get that itch still to pick up and go somewhere else, but sadly, his work holds us here. Can't really complain, we have the best job benefits ever and live in an area that really suits us.

You could try something really different like Maine, or upstate New York. There's a lot of cheap housing there if you look in the right places.

It's definitely something I wish I had done before buying a house and being stuck in one place. I bought too young and have had a lot of changes since then where I wished I could up and move as close as across the county to as far as across the country but it's not that easy to do when you have to sell or find renters first. Do it while you have the chance, you'll learn a lot about yourself along the way.
