Default Squirrel in the Ceiling

So I had pest inc over because there is something in the ceiling and they said it's a squirrel and found several places around the house where it could actually go in.

How do you get them out because they said that they are not certified to deal with squirrels.

Shotgun should do the trick.

I'm surprised a pest control company could not help you.

You have to seal off all possible ways into the space. Then they install a one way door - squirrel can get out but not in. Remove the door and fix the opening and your done. They come out on their own when they are hungry.

$$$$$'s

yeah, he said he's not licensed to do it. Didn't charge me for looking at the house at all.

Maybe a live trap after you seal off the entries. Wouldn't rat poison kill them? They are rodents after all

Dont kill them!

I have been known to slam on my car brakes for squirrels.

I would not try to poison them with dogs around, just speaking from experience (landlord set out rat poison, 12 week old puppy ate it).

You don't want to use poison because they could eat it, crawl into a place you can't get to, and then die. Not a good situation. I had some raccoons in my attic and after multiple attempts at trapping didn't work, I went up there with a revolver loaded with .22 short ammunition. I never did get a chance to use it, as I wasn't able to locate the raccoon. After deciding they must no longer be in there, I fixed the hole and threw out a couple marshmallows. Checking two days later, the marshmallows still existed and therefore the coon probably wasn't there. It was a nightmare, and I got lucky to find a time where they left on their own. (And it would be a lot easier to shoot a raccoon than a squirrel.)

But as others stated- most pest control places can trap them out for you. If you live in the country- happy hunting!!

I had 8 squirrels in my attic and they created a whole lot of damage.
Get them out of there before they chew wires and potentially start a fire.

I went to Canadian Tire and got a trap for around $50.
Peanut butter was the bait and worked like a charm.
Find the entry point and close it off properly. Chicken wire will NOT work. They will just chew though it. (I learned that the hard way).

When caught, drive them far away to the woods and release them. If you release them too close, they will be back and will more than likely bring friends.

Good luck.

Maybe you can trap them, but I don't know if you can legally reclocate squirrels, I know you can't relocate racoons around my area.

Trapping them would involve you putting the cage up on the roof by an access point, ideally in the attic where they are more than likely nesting for the winter with babies in the spring. With a trap you need to know how many little devils are actually there.

The one way door is the best way to go. I would consider poison as well, placed in your attic well away from access to your dogs. Squirrels are a rodent. You need to get rid of them. They can chew the wires in your house which may cause a fire. The nasty ones that are around in the winter months chew our christmas lights that we have in the trees all the time.

Call a pest control company that is qualified to deal with squirrels.
