I haven't brushed my teeth with toothpaste for a month!
I have a pretty severe receding gumline. I actually am supposed to get a skin graft done, but I was too chicken to make an appointment. I was looking up stuff on the internet and found out that many of the ingredients in toothpaste cause gum recession. And since the whole goal of brushing is just to brush away plaque, I quit using it and now I just brush with a toothbrush, floss, and use one of those little brushes for brushing inbetween teeth. My teeth used to always feel a little bit sore where the gum recession was the worst, but now they don't feel sore anymore so I think it might be helping! I'll probably still have to get the skin graft done since I'm only 22, but at least I won't be in pain until then. |

I still think about Rogue and I sometimes mourn the loss of him. He was not a bad dog, he just had problems I was not equipped to deal with.
I am happy that he isn't here though, I wouldn't have Malice if he was. But I do miss him. ![]()

I gave up early on my first dog. He was a 3yo pom/american eskimo mix and came to me with scabies, fleas, seperation anxiety, social issues, house-training issues and severe heartworms. The woman didn't tell me much on his history and told me nothing of his heartworms. All she said was 'he loves everyone and is healthy!' I had this dog for two weeks - he escaped the hoyse three times. I brought him back to her, not able to help the rescue or keep him. I know they killed him because of the lack of funds to treat to heartworms. I still feel guilty.

My husband is national sales manager and travels quite a lot and then might be home for two weeks straight. When I say home, I mean in our house. I have to confess that by the 13th day I'm sometimes ready for him to go somewhere- just for a day or two.

Can I confess something..
The first one being about my rat Squeek. I had started taking in rescues to foster them about a year ago. One day I got a call about a pair of boys who were abused and needed a place to recover. I took them in, named them Pip and Squeek and brought them back from the brink of death. I tried multiple times to find them a home but due to them being brown and looking like wild rats (the were also skittish and hated being held) nobody wanted them. They stayed with me but I never bonded with either. I guess they were always pushed aside by my friendly boys and I just didnt have time to work with them. Pip past away and we buried him in a forest near by as we are renting and our garden is all gravel. Then squeek died and we intended on burying him beside his brother the next morning so put his body in the freezer. That is where he remained.. for 3 months and was only buried today.. I feel terrible about forgetting for so long. I was struggling with health issues with the other pets and I just forgot until I saw the box his body was in today. I know in my heart that I wouldn't forget to bury my other rats, I adore each one of them but Squeek was pushed aside in life and in death. He was fed the best food and had friends in a huge cage but he was never appreceated for the beautiful boy he was. Sorry Squeek.. RIP boy.. |

Ok, here is my confesstion.
I think its hilarious how my little love bird teases the dog and one ups him all the time. I know, I know, thats bad of me and I don't sit there and let it keep going, but its so funny. And I swear the bird laughs at the dog.

Just remind yourself that squeek had a much better quality of life than most other rodents. He had a huge cage, the best food and friends. Many other rats end up in a rat trap, don't be too hard on yourself.

I am a bad dog owner. My dog is loved and pampered and exercised.
BUT She could be so much more. GSDs are smart and can be put to so many uses. I feel guilty for not training her in tracking or SAR or even therapy. I dropped out of CGC because she will never pass the Leave with Stranger test. At this rate she will never have any of those neat initials after her name. Oh, woe is we. |
