My sister has a poop-zu. She took it to Petco to be groomed because her normal groomer is over booked. They shaved it's tail. Totally.
My sister is anal about her dog's coat. He never has knots. There were no knots in his tail. She said to the groomer, "You shaved his tail !?!" And the groomer walked away. never spoke a word. She had already paid. So she just picked him up and walked out. I'm thinking I wouldn't have been so nice.

HMM, can she go back and help give the groomer a haircut?
I'd be pretty ticked off ...

I took my boy to Pet Smart several months ago, before I moved for a good grooming. They asked what I wanted etc. I neglected to tell them to leave his ear floofies alone so when I picked him up they were gone. I was shocked. But I knew it was my own fault for not specifying. However, if they had shaved his tail as what happened to your friend, I would have been furious!
While he was at the groomer, I was working on grooming my girl. I DID shave her tail! It was just so long and so easily matted. This was all about 5 months ago, and looking at her now, one would never know I shaved her tail!

When I took Baxter in for a bath over the summer, they asked if I wanted them to shave him. I was very polite, but informed them to keep their clippers far, far away from my dog. All he needed was a bath, to be brushed, and nails trimmed a bit.
I just...I don't understand why they would think I would want him shaved. His coat isn't even all that thick.

I took Recon to the groomer two days ago to get used to other people handling/grooming him... I had never been to a groomer before. They asked if I wanted the TOPS of his feet shaved. Uh... I said they could stick to the pads and keep his feet with hair. He's only 5 months old (not even really) and has no border collie coat... why would they shave his feet!?

I'm lucky! When i was calling around to get Ky groomed, the woman I ended up going to was awesome.
i was explaining that she might have to "shave / clip" Ky in some places (a couple of burrs were knotted so badly - i made sure she had loads of fun the day before the "big bath") ... she says: UMMM, you don't want to shave your dog do you? No, no, just in case you need to get a couple of places where i can't reach Oh, thank god ... I'll "clip / shave" a small area if it's matted, but I'm not going to shave your dog!!! i was very pleased to hear that!

I don't know if that's true or not....we rarely have snow/ice. Mud? Yea, lots and lots of mud.

Around here in the snow we keep golden, border collie, etc. pads trimmed up underneath because that's where the snow balls up. A lot of us all oils or thin boots to prevent it, too. But the tops of the feet are never effected, which is why this shocked me so! And we don't even have any snow yet. :P

So glad we're moving out of here. My nephew started crying at 4am and I think his parents had earplugs in or something, because he just cried for hours and they didn't check on him until they got up to go to work. I am so tired. He was so loud, he sounded like he was in our room.
