So, a little birdy (AKA Jer's BFF/Boyfriend...sometimes I'm not sure) that Jereme had a thing for whales as a kid. OMG. It is the cutest thing ever. |

Holy Ca-Ca....
I'm home sick. I'm laying on the couch watching TV. Lonestar is in his kennel (I'm sick, I have no crack puppy patience). Mags is laying with me and Hondo is on the floor. Tug is outside. Suddenly Tug starts going nuts. Hondo races to the window and goes nuts. Lonestar is going nuts in his kennel. Maggie races to the window and joins in. I grab Hondo's collar (my front windows go to the floor and I worry that he'll jump through) and look outside. There is a guy walking down our drive. He's smiling. In his hand is a little black book, something that looks like what a waitress brings your bill in. I notice I can see something flapping from his back pocket. It looks like a pair of welders gloves. My house sits at the end of about an acre. We have pastures all around us. I have a long drive way. NOBODY just walks down our drive. My door at the end of the drive way is actually our side door. It goes into our mud room. I place my pistol on the washer, I have Hondo's collar in my other hand. He is still barking up a storm. I tell him "Enough!" he sits and is quiet. I crack the door open before the guy can knock. He can see me and Hondo. He is still smiling. "Geez, that's a big dog" he says. I glance at Hondo and he looks as though he is strung tighter than a guitar string. Hondo is giving him his famous stink eye, but he's quiet. "I don't know what you want, but I'm not interested" I say. I've got one hand on Hondo, and the other next to the pistol, that he can't see. He opens the little black book and says something about washing cars, has some sort of flyer and pulls it out. "I'm not interested". He takes the flyer and leans forward. Hondo (still sitting, I've got his collar) raises his front legs off the ground and lets out the scariest series of barks I've ever heard out of him. The guy jumps back, Hondo becomes silent and sits. "That's really not a good idea, you need to go." I tell the guy. He smiles, turns and walks back down the drive way. I shut and lock the door. I call the police to make a report..just in case, while we watch him walk back down the drive. I told the dispatch that my dogs will always bark when someone walks down my drive. But my GSD never shows over the top aggression towards anybody. She said she'd send an officer to check out this guy.

Oh man... Hopefully it's nothing, but sometimes dogs just know when something's up. I'm glad it sounds like they took you seriously enough on the phone to have him checked out, though - and that you and the pups are all okay.

Nancy, that is scary... I had a similar situation at the beginning of the summer. It gave me the willies for a few days after... nothing ever came of it. Same thing...shot gun in one hand behind the door, dog going BALLISTIC with overt aggression (the dog who has never growled at anyone, ever)...and the guy still wasn't phased. The indifference creeped me out beyond anything else. I hope that's the end of it for you!

My neighbor across the street came over while I was on the phone. He heard the dogs barking, and although he didn't see the guy till he was back on the street, at least he knows the sounds of my dogs when they are serious.

That's how some of those idiots work. A "legitimate" reason for going door to door in the middle of the day, just in case someone is home. If not, they can break in and steal stuff.
Sounds like everyone did their job. And I'm glad you called to have someone check the guy out. If nothing else, they can ID him and "encourage" him to move along. ![]() You can't imagine how many burglary/theft reports I've taken and when talking to neighbors, they all saw something strange but didn't call it in. Too bad you don't feel better, Lonestar could track him down and Hondo could eat him.

At least you dogs bark..... We had a stranger just walk in the house - he was supposed to be there to take pictures of the house for the realtor he just didn't knock. We didn't know when he would be coming out so we weren't exactly expecting him. My guy barely lifted his head.....

I am completely exhausted today and have a terribly low tolerance for rude, arrogant, dismissive people. I think perhaps I should not be online reading some threads or on Facebook.
On the up side....I finally figured out what to get my son for Christmas...I've never printed any pictures so I have hundreds of trips we've taken and holidays. Now to sort, get the printed and organized in the next two weeks.. I work best under stress!
