So, some dogs probably do pick up on smell and medicines, etc. and some definitely pick up on body language; too much eye contact, shift behaviors, retreating, etc. like Frag did.

Unfortunately Hans is very "good" at that. Who knows, maybe the Czechs selected them for going off when sensing people's shifty or nervous behavior -- actually, that would make sense.

One day we were at a farmer's market/town festival sort of thing. He was a great breed ambassador until a guy passed in front of us, walking weird, looking scraggly, and dragging his leg while leaning on a cane. He got he bark of disapproval from Hans. It was embarrassing.

Another time we were walking along a major road and no one was about, and out of the blue appears a very big, burly man. Same reaction. But he sat nicely for the cashier at Home Depot to pet him.

Ok so how weird is this. My throat thing has been going on since Tuesday. No other symptoms other than the throat. Today I cough, hard and out comes a piece of cashew. My throat is raw but now fine. I have my voice back. How on earth does a piece of cashew get lodged to where it's not choking me but causing issues for 4 days??? Oh and a ping pong table fell on my head this morning. You can't make this up.

The moral of the story: drink more beer while eating nuts.

I wish I knew what kind of bloodlines Frag had in him so we could compare notes. I also wish that dogs could talk to tell us what makes them tick. Frag never barks at anyone unless they are in the dark and getting too close, but I can definitely tell that he just doesn't click with some people or does not want to be near them/disapproves.

Haha, that is why I put quotation marks around dog... these are the fakes! I just found it ironic that she walked in saying she knew canines, then shoved her face into Frag's.

Yeah. Shoving your face into any dog's face is not a good idea.
But it takes a special kind of fool to do it to a GSD!

Found out that Niko's sire is a cat killer. That explains why we had such a hard time keeping him away from our kitties. In that far off day when we get another GSD puppy, I think we'll be shopping around for a new breeder, particularly since she thought it was funny that her dog was an uncontrollable cat killer. That's not funny.

During the hike today, the dog gave some windy bushes more attention and focus than I have ever gotten. He sat in an alert position for literally 8 minutes, with so much drool coming out of his mouth that there was a pool of drool right on top and under his front paw. I have idea what he was doing. New avatar to commemorate this milestone in drooling focus stage.
