Sounds like a lot packed into one day. Glad you had a good day and were able to spend quality time with your mom. No doubt she treasures that.

just got home from Applebee's and dinner with half the clinic my husband works at on base. Applebee's didnt like us too much but seriously, they were warned we had a big party and still wouldnt take a reservation for 20+ people. The manager was none too happy with his hosting staff over that failure!

Its only 20 minutes to 9pm and i'm ready to go to bed. Guess going to class and then the 30 minute drive to the shelter, 3 hours working 5 dogs and 30 minutes back home from the shelter plus being social at dinner tonight wiped me out. I could sleep good tonight!! (i hope! lol). Have to finish my laundry first otherwise I have to go commando to class tomorrow.... not fun!!!

Gar, Gar, Gar......took Alice to the PetExpo today. She did absolutely fabulous! And, took no pictures......*face palm*
I worked 12 hours today to cover and was absolutely STARVING by the time my beloved came in.
He said, "I made meatloaf"....in my excited state of "Hooray! I'm STARVING" I forgot that Gar is hands down the worst maker of meatloaf in the history of whoever came up with shaping hamburger/ground beef into a loaf and cooking it.

*sigh*

I'm interested in taking Bianca to this pet expo: Windy City Pet Expo

But I'm a little leery because all over their website it says:

Free Admission
Bring Your Pet!

So I'm afraid a lot of people might bring their ill-behaved pets who are not used to being at these type of events!

Oh I thought maybe you were gonna say he made it for the dogs or something.
That reminds me of earlier, a family member came in the room and said he looked in the fridge earlier and thought to himself, I don't remember buying big hamburgers... Then he realized they weren't hamburgers. I'd put two of Bianca's Instinct raw patties in there to thaw for her!

That's true, my boss said their must have been over fifty pit bulls there and all behaved wonderfully. The chiweenies, were hemorroids. In fact, one was sniffing Alice and she sniffed him and he bit her in the lip. Gar still did not need dental floss to pull the little rodent out of her mouth. She was like: "What the heck dude? We're dogs, we sniff each other"
The downside is it was a very long day for Zoey who came to work with me. She's toast.

All and all, it was a very good day. Gar got interested in the dock diving demo. (well not for himself, he'd be awkward; but for Alice *wink*)

So.....I solved the Baxter mystery on why he won't eat.

Sam has been giving him his food. Apparently, it only tastes good when I give it to him. What a weird dog.

You know, Alice went through that not too long ago. Usually I'm more of the line of thinking of: "Well, bad decision Alice" and pick up the bowl after about 7-10 minutes. The downside of that is Alice's meds make her hungry.
So, Alice wouldn't eat for Gar. He'd present the bowl, exactly how I did it and she'd slink away. He'd come to work and tell me "she won't eat for me, you need to re-present"
One time when we were both off work together I watched him feed her.
The only thing that I could think of to explain her behavior was she'd get in the trash or counter surf during the day when he stepped out and he'd walk in the house and "punish" her. Not, in a physical way but definitely correct her. WRONG I believe that she made the association of food with a "bad dog" thing.
If it's done, it's done.....can't do anything after the fact. When I pointed this out to him, I got "You're crazy!" However, he did stop correcting after the fact.
When it happened (countersurfing/trash) he started ignoring it....and guess what? She eats for him.

*eye roll* MEN!!! Sometimes they are harder to train than an English Bulldog.

Hmm...that could be it. Sam doesn't really correct Baxter for much since he doesn't really get into much. But he DOES make Baxter work ridiculously hard for treats/food. Maybe that's it..? Who knows. I'm just glad the pup is eating...I was starting to get worried since it had been a few days of him barely eating.
