Default Shar Pei's

My sister had one yrs ago that they lost to cancer at the age of 5. They're looking now for a chocolate one. Does anyone know any reputable breeders in the Mid Atlantic area (possibly as far south as the Carolina's) ?

Hi Angela,

That is a link to the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America's breeder listing for the east coast. I have been out of Shar Pei for a while now but I would be happy to PM you those on that list that I would consider a pup from.

All the best to your sister and her family, there is nothing quite like a wrinkle kid.

I just love the choc color. I don't know anygood breeders but I wish you luck on finding a good one. They are kinda hard to find Our poor boy has severe panus and is almost completly blind. He had it when he was born. I love the breed and will always have one. And with all the colors and types. Bone mouth, Meat Mouth, really wrinkled or hardly any wrinkles at all (those look a lil pitbullish to me), horse coat, brush coat, bear coat. I would like to find a heavy wrinled cream bear coated meat mouth my self.

What does that mean, bone mouth or meat mouth? I've never heard those terms before.

Bone mouth=smaller lightly padded muzzle
Meat mouth=large thickly padded muzzle hippo like
Horse coat=harsh very prickly coat under 1/2" in length often leave a rash
Brush coat=less harsh with no undercoat up to 1" in length
Bear coat=Soft coat and often has an undercoat and over 1" in length
very soft to the touch and sometimes slightly wavy.

My last wrinkle kid was a mahogney red bear coated girl with a huge muzzle and very wrinkled. Over the years, I had both horse and brush coats. My first was a Deep Brown with a black nose, black, apricot dilute, red/fawn with black mask and the deep red.

Yep what she said. Ours is a red fawn meat mouth with a brush coat. He's so handsome I love how he looks shen he's all relaxed and the wrinkles fall more foward and his face gets really fat and squishy looking its hard to describ his face exprshins there not like the other dogs. His make him look so cute and cuddly.

He is very much a stud muffin lol. That face just begs to be smooshed. I love the velvety fur just about their nose.
