Default Thanksgiving

What are you guys' plans for Thanksgiving? My plan is to either make a homemade caramel cake or oreo cookie cake. The homemade caramel cake is so good that it's all gone within a day! We actually make the caramel. I've never done the oreo cookie cake and it would be something new to try. Mother is probably going to do a peacan pie, but I hope she makes at least 2 this time. Last time, father ate 3/4 of the tiny thing.

I'm from CT but live in TX so I've had to learn how to make things I've never eaten- like pecan pie. I have a great recipe one with bourbon and chocolate chunks on the bottom so it's not so gooey sweet. But I still have to make a pumpkin pie or sometimes an apple pie with Cabot's extra sharp white cheddar even if I'm the only one who gets it.

well I always cook the whole dinner for my mom, sister,my mil, nephew and a couple friends.

Holidays here are always 'interesting' My MIL is NOT an animal person, and well the dogs just gravitate and like to aggravate anyone who is not interested in them)))

Usually some food gets stolen, or a cat will jump on the table, or my husband will really BUG his mother, by letting one of the dogs lick his plate when he's done eating, (anything animal grosses her out

Never know what's going to happen here

I do pies every year (I take Wednesday off to bake). I will bake 4 pumpkin, 2 pecan, 1 apple, and every year a new pie...have not decided yet. BTW...William's Sonoma has a great Oreo cake pan!

ack I won't have my girls this Thanksgiving! They are going to GA with Ronnie's parents to visit his sister and their Great-Grandfather. I'm going to have lots of leftovers! Sorry, but I don't know how to cook for only 2 people!

Jakoda I think my GMIL and your MIL may be long lost sisters, we have the dame issue at our house except we only have to deal with her at Christmas. Grandfather is even worse about the dogs flocking to him but between MIL and FIL's dogs and mine and hubbys' we have 5 dogs at all holidays. We also have the plate licking.

Sure.

Recipe: Home made caramel cake.
Credit: Thanks mother, regardless of what father says, you are a good cook.
Stuff needed:
1 can of Eagle brand milk
1 cake mix of your choice, perferly vanilla or chocolate
1 oven
1 pot

Instructions:
1.Okay, the first thing you need to do is put the can of Eagle brand milk into the pot. Fill the pot with water, make sure the water covers the top of the pot. Place the pot on the stove and boil for exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes. After the time is up, be VERY CAUTION BECAUSE YOU CAN GET BURNED, empty the water and let the can cool. Once the can is cooled, open it and beward of delicious, thick caramel oozing out of the can. There's your caramel.
2. Make your cake from the cake mix and put it into the oven. Take the cake out once you are able to put a fork into it and not draw up crumbs.
3. Once the cake has cooled, spread the caramel on it and BOOM, you have homemade caramel cake.

I ONLY recommend this to people with strong teeth. Other wise, you WILL get cavities.
