Default Anyone use parsnips for anything?

I have never tried them. I like other roots like carrots, turnips and potatoes. Can anyone explain what to do with a parsnip? And maybe, what they taste like?

I use them in vegetable soup. They're kinda like a really strong tasting carrot.

Same here, I use them in soups or stews, they're good grilled or roasted. Since they do have such a strong carrot flavor I don't put them in with a roast beef/pork/chicken because they'll flavor the meat too much for my taste, so I put them in a separate pan with a little olive oil, fresh rosemary, salt and pepper by themselves. If you like turnips or rutabagas you can handle a parsnip

rutabaga? It sound like an old car.

I guess I heard of them, but have never messed with them. Right now I am getting into roots though. I am going to have to try rutabagas and parsnips.

My partner roasts them the same as a carrot, its good because im the only one in the house who eats them.

She has also fried them once before, not as nice as roasted but still good :P

I've had parsnips before and liked them though they do have a strong flavor.

Rutabagas were one of my Mom's favorite veggies ... IMHO they taste like garbage juice smells ... GROSS!!!!
