The noise and lack of sharpness make me wonder if you are using a digital zoom? And Tammy is correct, packing more megapixels onto the same censor does nothing.

I have a Rebel XTI, and I've been really happy with it. My only complaint is that action shots when the lighting isn't good turn out grainy, but it may be that I'm doing something wrong. I also have a low-end zoom lens and that could be the problem! I'd like to invest in a better lens soon.
Anyway...the Rebel is really nice, definitely the one I'd pick of the two you mentioned! |

I just (like 2 weeks ago) bought the Canon Rebel and i LOVE IT! However, I am a beginner beginner so I'm probably not a good judge. What I do like about it though, is that it is easy to use even though I'm a newbie but it also has room for me to grow into it.

Canon or Nikon for an SLR. When you buy an SLR you are buying into a system. The camera body will be the cheapest. It is the lenses that are expensive. Those canon white lenses are nice. Nikon has killer lenses too.
When I made my decision (Nikon D80) I wanted a Canon because I had one with film. I studied dpreveiw and looked into lens reveviews. Nikon had a better lighting system, but Canon had those white lenses. Bottom line I had them side by side, picked them both up and didnt' like the feel of the Canon (forget what model it was but it was the equal to the D80). Just didn't feel right. Loved the Nikon grip in my hand. So Nikon it was. Never looked back. In the end it really doesn't matter what equipment you have, it is the talent behind the camera that matters. |

I definitely know it takes talent behind the lens. My mother used her old 35mm Canon for a vacation. The entire month she refused to wear her glasses. Each picture looked fine to her through the viewfinder. They didn't turn out that way once developed.
![]() I went with the Canon. The Nikon was a bit out of my price range and I couldn't get hands on with them. Wal-Mart at least had one on display that I could get the feel of (not where I bought from). |
