Our coffee pot leaked all over the counter so my iphone sat in a puddle of coffee overnight
. I dried it out as best I could and I can receive calls but the touch screen isn't working well enough for me to make any. I have in a ziplock bag full of white rice to absorb the moisture. Any other suggestions?

Have you tried the " Microwave " ? No, no, no, just kidding.
I would take it to your provider. Most have on site technicians and they could most likely bring it back to life. The longer you wait the worst the damage could be ...

Turn the phone off so you don't fry the screen. You know those "do not eat" packets you get in a box of shoes or some supplements? Put a couple of those in a plastic baggie with the phone for a few hours. The packets are made to absorb moisture and will dry the phone out better than the rice.
When the cat spilled a cup of water on my Droid, I put the phone in with rice and those packets but I had already fried the display. |

Turn the phone off, remove the battery, and place in a bowl of rice to help absorb the moisture.
Let it dry out for at least a couple days before even attempting to turn it on again. I'd give it at least 3 days minimum. You want everything to dry out completely because if you turn it on while still wet, you're going to fry everything.

yikes... liquid is a computers enemy.. specially coffee, soda or anything that can dry and be sticky... not sure that it will go back to normal.. you could spend money and get it fixed, if you have insurance on it (which i would recommend to anyone that has a phone over $200) you can get a new one for about $50 depending on your provider...
my pup has already gotten a hold of my ipod and htc touch pro... thankfully i use screen protectors and body glove... hope everything works out well, there is a possibility it will turn to normal.. ive never heard of drying them out in rice, might have to try that out if it happens

Well drying it out with rice, etc will take care of the moisture. But what about the residue ? usually any clear liquid (like water) can be dried out and leave nothing behind. But Soda, coffee leave sugar and other residue behind which will gum up the display, connectors, etc. Take it to a shop right away but be prepared for the bad news.

A friend of mine gave it to me when he got a new one so if I have to replace it I guess I will. My husband just watched a video on how to take it apart and reset the moisture sensors and now wants to give that a try. That sounds easy right???

Yes and no. I worked at one of those cell phone carts in the mall back when I was in college and part of my job was taking apart the phones and installing new cases. However, phones weren't as complicated then and it was only 6-7 years ago. The hardest part is always putting it back together and there's always an extra screw
Becareful not to separate any wires.

You could try using a hair dryer. This used to work on a watch I had that I kept forgetting to take off before getting in the shower. Not TOO hot, but the heat and air can help evaporate the liquid.
