I'm fortunate in that I do not have many strange neighbors where I live now. (I am probably the strangest one.) One set of neighbors are a brother and sister in their 70s - neither ever married. One is a single man in his late 50s and he drinks too much but doesn't cause problems as a general rule. There is a younger man up the block who seems to have gotten his act together recently. The rest are families of different ages or widows or widowers.

The registered pedophiles are just the convicted ones. If the OP is uneasy about her neighbor, she's uneasy about her neighbor. She might be right, she might be wrong. You CAN call the police if you are concerned about someone. They might not be able to do anything based on the information you provide but you can call them and talk about it.

Most pedophiles are pretty average looking/acting people BTW. It would be easier if they were more readily identified....

If you know their names, can you do a search with the appropriate governmental agent - state - to see if they are registered? I check my neighborhood all the time.

Since we veered way off topic, I'll play. My brother's favorite term when they were young men was "jail bait." No, none of them had anything to do with younger girls. I mean even when they were eighteen and nineteen. Do not parents explain to their sons when they reach eighteen that they can go to JAIL for messing with minors???

I do not necessarily agree with it though. I mean, in order to get nailed for statuatory rape, there should be a gap of three or four years. I mean 21 year olds shouldn't be messing around with 16 or 17 year olds. But 19/17 is pretty much normal. I think in many cases girls mature a little faster than boys, and 17 year old boys are often not on the same planet as 17 year old girls. So girls go for the older guys.

But when you have guys over 20/21 it gets odd them going out with minors. There is a difference in power there. The younger girl is often dazzled that this older guy is interested in her, and that makes her willing to put up with a lot more and make poor choices. Guys that old should be mixing with people they have something in common with, college kids, or friends at work. Why mess around with a teenager?

As for 36 snakes, well, I haven't had to deal with anyone with that many snakes before, but one might wonder how he keeps them all and whether they stink, how he keeps whatever he is feeding them, etc, etc. If it was 36 cats, you bet that would be scarey. My sister's friend had something like that many IN THE HOUSE. She took care of them when they went on vacation. The house was not livable. There were litter dishes under the dining room table.
