Default Angry about the accident

When I first got in that accident a few weeks ago I was sad about my Jeep (I loved that car!) but pretty much had the attitude that accidents happen and it could have been anyone. After all, we have ALL taken our eyes off the road for a moment while driving, right?

I am now getting to be downright furious! It was determined that this jackhead did not have insurance. He let the cops think he did and he had an expired insurance card in his truck. His insurance was cancelled last May for nonpayment. Freak!

So I got to looking for his other traffic violations and from the circuit court website (in the county he lives in and the next county over) I found that over the past 15 years he has been caught:

7 times for driving w/o insurance (8 times including this most recent)

7 times for driving while his license was revoked for driving w/o insurance

2 times for driving with an expired DL

2 times for driving without registration because it was revoked for not paying the fines for driving w/o insurance

1 time for failure to obey a stop sign

1 time for disregarding a traffic signal

1 time for unlawful lane change

1 time for improper turn at an intersection

2 times for not wearing a seatbelt

1 time for failure to properly restrain a child under the age of 4

1 time for theft

2 times for domestic battery

1 time for loud noise caused by a muffler or lack thereof.

He also had a restraining order against him which was from a different time frame from the domestic battery charges.

He was ticketed with driving too fast for road conditions, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident for when he hit me. So we'll see what happens with that.

I have not added up the # of days he has spent in jail as a result of the above items or the amount of $ he has spent on fines.

WHAT A DOOFUS!

Why does this guy even have a license anymore? Not that taking it away keeps him from driving, but C'MON PEOPLE!!

He owns no home and now no car. He has nothing that I can go back and try to get the money I have had to put into this whole thing back. There is a good chance that at work we are going to all be laid off next year instead of the optional nights they gave us a few weeks ago, so I dont want to spend the $ just to have a judgement in the off chance he decides to grow up someday (he is 37 now).

That's all. I just needed to vent and rant. I need to get a punching bag.

Sorry to hear all that.It really does suck when people disregard laws and other people. Like you said even if they took his license I think he would be the type to drive anyway. After all what does he have to loose? Nothing.
I hope it all works out for you.Good Luck.

Blergh, people are idiots.

I don't think I'd spend the money to get the judgement. If he hasn't grown up by now, and obviously has no regards for laws, it's not going to make a difference. Unless you got a judgement and he hit the lottery, you're out of luck

Knowing there is a judgement there, he would never put anything in his own name. That only works if they already have assets, and even then only if they go to sell or buy.

Don't even get me started about the guy I know that is now 45 and spent 19 years not working on the books due to an early "oops" And not wanting to pay the ex child support... (unless she documented that every single penny went to their son, and what it was spent on, of course. That would be different -rolls eyes-) And no, before you ask, I'm not the mother lol

So..if it makes you feel any better, you got sc---ewed all at once, she had to live with it every day for 18 years...

I would consider small claims court. That wouldn't cost much but at least you could put a lein on his income.

He has no "income". We already had it searched. He is either working off the books or not working. He is behind on child support, so even if he did come into some income, it would go there.

Been there. Already went through the non-payment of child support with my ex.

I would be furious too. Someone needs to go and break both of his knees. It will have him off the road for a while anyway.

It does suck. Take the comfort you can in the fact that you were not seriously injured by doofus. Don't let Mr. J>A. get in the way of your life. He is who he is and he is responsible for that. The only person you are responsible for is yourself and that, truly, is the only person you can do anything about.

Geez, and I thought the lazy person who decided to "bump" a shopping cart out of their spot instead of getting out....causing the cart, in turn, to flip over onto my car, denting and scratching it was bad.
