Real bummer. My brother was robbed. They took his TV and his laptop and tried to take his computer, but I think Tiger (weiner dog) got involved. Tiger was kicked and hurt.
My brother called me and is now interested in a German Shepherd. I am thinking of letting him have Rushie. They will give him a good home. He will live inside with them and the little dog, and hopefully be more of a deterrent than the little guy. My brother works from home a lot, and his wife works part time, and their boy is in jr high now. It sounds like a good place for Rushie. Tiger is neutered and a bit older, so hoping that will not be an issue. I looked back through Rush's book. I just finished another advanced class where he took over for heidi in the second week. He has 10 training class certificates, which indicates that he has been through ten six week courses. He will be 4 at the end of January. He is healthy, has a great temperament, and I do not plan to use him for breeding, and I could use the kennel. While it will be hard to let him go, he will be one of two dogs and get a lot more attention, and he will be a good fit in their family. While I was at my sister's on Sunday, four cop cars came and my sister called me from upstairs and told me not to let the girls outside there was some kind of stand off. They live on a rounded culdesac so you can see the house two doors down better than the next door neighbors. That is where the cops were going -- two doors down. Not sure what it was all about, but they were there for an hour or more. I felt a bit scared having the girls in the front room in case there was any shooting. I'm a sheltered country girl and not used to break ins and stand offs. I moved out of the city when I was ten years old, and never looked back. We may have crime this way, but no one has bothered my home with my dogs there. I wonder if the increase in crime near my family is because of the up coming holidays and the problems with the economy.

Don't know why the crime would be up except the poor economy. Sorry to hear about the break in. They may feel safer with Rushie nad that is a very generous offer to make. Sounds like both sides will win in this case. Rushie gets to be the top dog and your brother's family gets some added sense of security.

I got robbed in August-they took electronics and my computer. The computer bugged me the most. THe Tv/DVD can be replaced, but the computer had stuff from when my Mom and Grandmom died three months apart a few years ago. I can't get that stuff back. Condolences to your brother. THe whole thing makes you feel violated, and even with insurance, you generally spend alot of money making your home secure again. The burglary is why I got Xena and she did scare the burglars off when they came back. I hope your brother's dog is gonna be ok-glad his wife and son weren't home. Prayers for ya.

Knock on wood. We have had the gang run off a few 'bandits' in the past little while.
There have been a rush of break ins but no one is bothering us out here. We live on a back road in an isolated area and you'd think we'd be a prime target. But so far the dogs have been wonderful at there job. Although I must warn, if they know you have a dog and want to get in bad enough what they did in this area years ago was go around and poison peoples dogs. Then about a week later they come back and rob you. That is how we lost our boy Tucker. He was a victem along with 4 other dogs in the area.

So sorry this happened to your brother's family! It's really frightening when the safety of your home is compromised. I hope little Tiger wasn't injured too seriously and he'll have a speedy recovery.
Sounds like your brother's home would be good for Rushie - that's very nice of you to consider giving him to his family.

Sorry to hear about your brother's misfortune and do hope that the little guy will be okay.
This economy bites and so does crime. Makes me glad I have my two as I doubt anyone would try such a thing here. Since they are always with me when they are out, no chance of poisoning either.

Sounds like a win-win for your brother and your dog.
Two years ago someone tried to break into my house a couple of weeks before Christmas. Sheba must have awakened when the screen was pried off, because that was as far as he got. I found out later from the police that after the guy left my house, he went to the house behind me and stole their Christmas presents. He had bad luck though because a cop driving by, saw the guy walking down the street with gifts, stopped him and he was arrested.

There is someone home here all the time and I feel bad if they try to get into my home. My brother is a gun nut and just gives me stuff all the time. I don't care if they are have body armor I even have ammo for that so if they come here they leave in a bag. I will even put a xmis tag on there foot.
