wow excessive much? Shes 10 yrs old! Thats all an emotionally distrubed child needs. I know that some ppl might think 10 is old enough to know better but seriously have they tested those things on kids?? (I hope not) Why don't they figure out why she doesn't want to shower instead of shooting her with a taser.

I hope this poor child is removed from her mother's custody - emotional illness is never healed through violence.
How absolutely terrifying that tasering must've been for this child, not to mention everything that ensued afterwards

Little brat deserved it. Mom should have whaled on her butt. Of course it's set up now you can't do that, so here we are, have to call the cops on a kid that just needed her tail whipped.

The article doesn't state that the child is mentally ill. Only the comments speculate that she may be. But let me ask you this.......what would you have done in his shoes? The child is kicking, screaming, hitting and injuring the officer and the mother? What options are there? Put yourself in the officers shoes for a minute.....we have all seen children that are violent and unruly one place or another.....have you seen videos on YouTube of 10 yr olds fighting each other? My point is that yes there should be an investigation, but the other options of physically wrestling, hitting, shoving, or batoning the child would have been worse. With the taser you know how strong it is.....with physical force against a child you don't know how angry or how much force could have been used with the size difference and the cop being male against a female child.

Her mom should have spanked her, not call a cop to TASER her. Come on......
There was a story about cops tasering a 16 year old (mentally ill)....HE DIED!
So what did people use before tasers to get thier kids in line???

I'll await the results of the investigation. I use to nanny and one of the kids was six years old. He had a lot of problems. Even at six there were definitely times where he was so combative I was afraid for his safety and even my own. Like Tri-shepherd said, other methods of restraint can and have resulted in injuries or death.

I dont understand why the mother just didnt ignore her.
It said the girl was on the ground in a ball.

Whats the problem? I was a bad kid when I was younger, I would kick scream etc. My parents never called the cops, they told me to get in my room, or they would just totally ignore me.
Like I said before....what did they do in the "older" days??
For mentally ill people, dont they just give them a needle and they go to sleep? (seen it get dne @ my job)
If her daughter is THAT much trouble maybe she should not be living with her mom if the mother cant handle her. IMHO

The article doesnt give much to go on. The mother could have said it out of frustration and not meant it, IMO the cop should have known better.

All this because she wouldnt get in the shower? Me thinks there is more to the story than whats being said.

I wonder how much of the childs problems also fall a degree of Autism or other sensory problems.
