how about reasonable consequences? don't take a shower, you'll have to go to school smelling a bit funky tomorrow. not call the cops and have you arrested and thrown into a group home.

I couldn't find the original article anymore. he was yelling that it was a party and why did they call the cops to complain instead of coming over. there was video of it. he was waving his arms and complaining and they tasered him. 3 or 4 times I believe. when his family went to help him up, saying that he had a heart condition and history of heart attack, the pregnant woman was tasered in the back while she bent to help him up.

Again, people who work at homes for violent people do not even use tasers, what did cops do before tasers?
IMHO he used awful judgement, so did the mother. And in a previous post I said maybe that child should not be living with her mom if the mom cant control her.
Either way, its wrong.

Tasers were first used and tested in prisons for violent offenders. They still use them. Cops hit them with billy clubs and pepper sprayed them before tasers. Tasers are safer.

The taser for cops is kind of like a prong collar. People say they are safe, they say that it is power steering, or it is a quick and effective method to get people/dogs to behave.

Sorry, I am not a fan of either. What did officers do before there were stun guns???

She is flailing kicking, screaming. The officer allowed her to get in a shot to the groin. I almost think that that was a lie, used as an excuse by the officer after the fact because he was scared about using the taser on the kid.

Ten years old. I am sorry, but what full grown man cannot subdue a ten year old girl safely. Why use force at all. Why? Because of time. It is a waste of time to try to talk the kid into complying. Explaining what the consequences will be.

I agree that we should be more concerned with what exactly is going on with this kid, instead of shoving a prong collar on her.

Some things are just midevil.

Maybe he should have gone out to his cruiser and brought his GSD in and threatened her with the dog. If you do not get up and walk your butt out to my car, I am going to send Ammo in to bring you out....

I do not like being shocked. My dogs do not like it either. Stun guns have killed adults. I cannot imagine using a stun gun on a little girl like this. It is totally unreal. Poor kid.

Yes she is a brat. But why? If it is nature, then we have no business punishing her with such a thing. If it is nurture, then it really isn't her fault either. At some point you do have to hold the child accountable. But ten year olds are not quite there yet.

Corporal punishment is still used in [some] Georgia public schools as well. I remember moving to the South when I was a kid and being told that they still believed in corporal punishment (aka a heavy wooden paddle similar to what you'd see fraternities carrying).
