Scammers are really hitting lately........

So I have been getting lots of emails lately, threatening ones, that inform me my accounts(Ebay, Amazon, ETC) are being suspended because of illegal activity, but that I can reverse it by clicking a link in the email, and verifying my personal info. If you get these, DO NOT answer them, ever. Delete the email, and go to the website in question, and log in there. If there is an issue, it will show up. I have yet to find anything wrong with my Ebay, Amazon, or Paypal accounts, and according to the emails, I have been shut down. What losers.......

I've been getting them for years now.I delete and ignore.It's Christmas time of course all the losers are going to try to steal stuff from us....

I got two today about Paypal, which I almost never use anyway. I wasn't sure if it was spam or not because there was no link in the email. In fact, it specifically said not to reply to the email, and to go to the Paypal site and log onto my account for further details. I didn't bother since I so rarely use Paypal.

I get TONS of those kinds of emails at work, it's spam central around here. From some bank where we don't have an account, about a package that couldn't be delivered, about money we owe to the IRS..... I assume spam unless I have reason to believe otherwise, and if there's any doubt I copy some of the text and paste it into a google search.

Just got a call from a rep with Visa card corp. He said they were investigating a suspicious looking charge on my card. He gave me all my personal info, right down to the letter. Sounded legit, then he asked for me to verify the 3 digit code on the back of the card. I told him that since he worked for Visa, he should have access to that number, but he said it is never given out. He then said my account was locked, so I played along, and as he was blabbing away, I pulled up my account on my laptop, and was scrolling down the charges, and I asked him which ones were the hot charges. He said it was from some porn website, and I said that I did not see any of those. He said, of course not, my account was locked, and I would not be able to access them. I told him, I was looking right at the account, and I saw gas, food, dogfood charges, but none from a porn site. So, I secretly 3 wayed to the Alaska State troopers, and he did not know it, until they answered, and CLICK! he was gone, but not before they got his throwaway prepaid cell phone number from somewhere in Arizona. HAHA, SUCKA! Jokes on you!!

Makes me sick becuase they're preying on less savy people. I pity the fool who tries to prey on my 97 year old grandmother like that. It wouldn't be pretty when she tells my cousin the tank commander about it and he tells his brother the master hacker who tells...

Richard excellent catch and thanks for the warning! I am thinking I need to warn my son about this. Too many and he is responsible with his cc but would never expect something like this!
