Default Xanax

So I guess I was such a mess at the Drs. last week he rx'd me 2 months of xanax. This stuff scares me because I took Ativan before, a similar drug, and I had major parts of the day that I had NO memory of, and never did. My family would tell me stories of things I said or did and that's just what they felt like, stories. But I am to the point of constant nausea from not sleeping and I've dropped 15 lbs in 2 weeks. (Want a good diet plan? Break up with someone!)

Anyone have any experience with this drug? Did you experience the memory blocks? Will it help me to eat and sleep?

My husband used to take Xanax - before his accident. Made him calm and even. It maybe similar but it's much milder.

Ativan is bad stuff, very bad stuff. When my husband was in the hospital post accident, they used to give that to him to get him to sit down and shuddup. My dad was also given that when he was completely wound up over my mother having cancer - it took away his brain for the day, he has no recollection of what he did during that time either.

The scariest part is, I'm afraid of what I might do if I black out again. What if I forget I took it and keep taking it? That's why I'm always having someone hold it for me. They gave me Ativan in the hospital once and the next morning the nurse said I was trying to get into a broom closet in the middle of the night. That stuff is TRULY scary and I was in for an attack do I was also on Dilaudid which I'm sure made it worse.

I took it about 20 minutes ago and I already feel a nice calming feeling. Sort of numbs the pain. So far, it's not so bad. I only want to take it when I absolutely feel I'm going to lose my mind and never while driving back to PA.

I had a low dose prescription to help me with (musical) performance anxiety. It just calms.

Xanax is ok but I like valium better. It is a slower releasing for a steadier dose but if you need it fast you can chew it up or better put a couple under your tongue and let them melt. They get into your system faster that way.

Any of the benzo's are addictive and if you are on them for awhile you need to wean off of them.

AHHH!!! Nooo!!! Withdrawing from the painkillers they had me on was like the worst experience of my life. Any idea how much/how often it can be taken without being addictive?

Xanax will have a different effect on different people.
I could get addicted to Xanax so very easy.
If I haven't had Xanax in a while, a mg will take off any
edge I have and calm me right down.
I have bad insomnia, but it will put me right out.

The only problem is, I have to keep uping the dosage if I
take it regular.
Your problems will still be there after the Xanax wears off,
but sometimes it's just nice to be able to check out and get
a good sleep.

I have a very strong resistance to drugs, yet Xanax really
affects me. My wife has a very weak resistance to drugs, but
Xanax doesn't even affect her.

I have never had any memory loss with Xanax, but everyone is
different.

My doctor gave me a 1 month Rx for Xanax to help me sleep when I first started taking Prednisone - that was back in May.
I still have a pill and a half left.
I swear it's a wonder drug for sleep!!!
