Question for Hungarian breeders (about name)

Farkaskutya or Nemet Juhasz Kutya?

My relatives keep referring to Jax as a "farkaskutya" [translation: wolf-dog] but is that even a breed??

Farkaskutya is what we referred to in the house when speaking of German Shepherds when I was a kid. I don't think it is the official breed name, but a common usage name. I don't remember ever hearing anyone use Nemet Juhaszkutya, which I googled and is the official breed name in Hungarian. Though I did find a Hungarian article that said that the common reference to the GSD as a wolf dog is just based on the dog's looks.

Same as in French. The official breed is Berger Allemand (German Shepherd), but when I was growing up in Quebec, my reading books called the dogs Chien Loup (Wolf Dog), and so did everyone else in normal conversation.
