I know there probably isn't any way but I thought ... what the heck, I'll ask.
Does anyone know if you can cause a female to change her heat cycle? Kaynya (Chinese Crested) just came into heat. This is her second one in 2 years so it looks like she's a once a year bitch. This is common in CCs. I wouldn't mind it but WHY does it have to be the winter season!! She'll be going to the stud next Friday (most likely a few days too early) so let's say she's bred at the beginning of September. That's November when the pups are born and the middle of January when they will be ready to go home. That makes it tough to get them outdoors to socialize and even tougher to work on housebreaking (I prefer people work on REAL housebreaking not peepads with the pups.) I'd MUCH prefer her to have a litter in the warmer months but we can't always get what we want. Could breeding her CHANGE her cycling? Anyone ever experienced that?

I want to say I've heard of a drug to delay the heat cycle but that it can also mess up their body chemistry some (temporary, I think), leading to other issues. Maybe I'm delusional, too!
I'd ask a vet but be prepared to do research. There's always side effects...

Sometimes having another bitch in heat in the household will trigger the other females to come in heat. For example, two intact females living in the same household, one comes in heat, but the other is not due to be in heat for another month or two, but comes in heat early due to the other bitch.
Like when women live/room together, and their menstrual cycles get synchronized.

No to the drugs but I forgot the whole add-a-bitch idea!!
I may have to borrow one of my breeders bitches next spring!
