Panting...restless...distended...no appetite...but

Hello. Female is 61 days from ovulation. <u>Her temp has not yet dropped</u> but she has refused food since this morning. She is getting increasingly restless with some whimpers on occasion.

My question regards timing:
They say that the temp drop precedes " WHAT" 6-24 hours before. In other words, does it proceed Stage 1 of labor (the panting, restlessness) or does the drop in temp preceed actually BIRTH of a pup?

I am trying to determine just how far along the female is. All is ready for her. But her temp has NOT yet dropped.

the temp goes back up after the drop, it goes back up right before she is going into labor. You may have missed the drop in temperature. How often do you take the temp and do you take it at the same time each day?

all i know is dont leave her alone if shes acting like that. i wouldnt rely on temperature alone, she sounds close.

I am taking temp 3-4 times a day for the last several days and at similar times. I don't "think" I missed it. I will not be leaving her alone...

Sounds like you are real close to puppies. Don't let her outside to potty without supervision and bring a towel in case you gotta catch a pup.

Nope. Not yet. She is just panting very heavily. Watching me. Snuggling. And then left to cool off in a corner. Still not a temp drop.

Vala did that for about 2 days before her temp dropped. I would not leave her alone, but I would also keep checking her temp.

2 and 2 so far!! She started at 4 am. We heard nothing other than a scratch and then a puppy whining. Wow!
