Sorry folks! it has been a long couple days. On Sunday evening, Gipsi began pacing, and we knew it wouldn't be long. She delivered the first puppy at 2:37am Monday. Last pup arrived in this world at 2:35 Monday afternoon. They are large puppies. We lost one in the tunnel. She was an extremely large puppy, roughly 20 ounces. Gipsi is a medium sized female who just happens to have a small passage, and likes to produce large healthy puppies. She is a momma to 4 males and 2 females, who are eating like they haven't had a meal ever! She is absolutely exhausted, as you all can imagine. She is her usual good momma, watching over them, and making sure the awful stench that is me is immediately washed off them once I finish kissing and snuggling them.
We did use the vanila ice cream. For the most part, I believe it helped get her through the really rough patches. I will post pictures of momma and babies later on tonight. I am actually going to try and get some sleep for a few hours, as I was in the whelping box all night keeping vigil.

To look at her, other than the large swinging udders right now, you would never know she had puppies. It sure makes a big difference when a bitch is in excellent condition. Gipsi stopped training, two weeks before the puppies arrived. She still ran blinds (just for bark/guard bite slip, obedience (except jumps) and tracked up until two weeks ago. While Gipsi was preparing for her new arrivals this past weekend, the sire of the litter, Olesko, was taking second place FH2 (score 94) at the AWDF in PA. The color in the pictures is a bit off on Gipsi's coat color, as the windows are right above her, and I have several sky lights in the whelping room. Natural light didn't show her color as well as I wanted.
