whelping kit?

I have a litter due at the end of this month and while I have a well stocked whelping kit, I would love to know what others have in their "kits"...

This is also to provide calcium. One of the most common causes for whelping problems is low calcium levels. We always have vanilla ice cream and/or yogurt on hand for whelping night, and start giving the dam some yogurt with dinner a few days before whelping to make sure she's got plenty of calcium.

ice cream doesn't keep a dog or a human hydrated.

From what i understand the ice cream is for calcium= to help along the contractions, and sugar= to give a little bit of an energy boost for the mom.

I keep Kandi from Rokan Haus in my whelping kit. Wouldn't want to whelp a litter with out her, she is a whole lot calmer about it all than I am.

in addition to Kandi, I have the normal items, plus...

Tums
GoDog
scale
several pens and pencils (i always forget where I put them)
ice and cotton balls (cold wet cotton balls can produce a breathful scream if applied to the right spot on a new pup)
flashlight

Goats milk and formula ready for pups if needed.......

Learned this one the hard way, extra whelping kit in the car, including flashlights.

Have the car all ready to go in case of an emergency. All you have to do is add mom and take off.
