Default Look!!! They are so smart!

Yogi just got signed up for puppy classes! We start Jan. 4th after getting his lepto & rabies. I'm not sure anyone remembers but a couple of weeks ago I posted a thread about my puppy Yogi who wasn't listening and was barking at me. Well. I got some different treats and have been using those and just now I just said "Sit" and BOTH listened at the same time. Long enough to snap two photos! This is a major step for both dogs. I've been training my four year old lab mix while Yogi watches in his kennel and she has done a complete 180. Yogi no longer barks at me, looks at me attentively and listens. He gets trained while Jessie chills on her bed. The commands they've learned:
- come
- sit
- down
- go to bed (for Jessie)
- kennel up (for Yogi)
- look at me
- leave it
- bring it
- shake
- speak

I followed people's advice on taking the training sessions down to 5 minutes with Yogi and just doing them more often and he's doing so much better. I can't believe how far he's come in two short weeks. I also never thought Id be able to bring my dogs out (albeit individually) into my front yard with me and not have them just take off! They seem so much happier too (wagging tails more often, happy ears, etc.).

Default Impressive

Fiona does not have look at me down to well. I use the Spanish "mira!" because it is less words than English. She will glance and then back to stare at whatever has her fancy. Fiona is 19 months now.

Pretty easy to fix that issue just through repetition and then as they get better at it you reward just a little bit slower. So before it was mira feed mira feed mira feed. Eventually it becomes mira (pause) feed mira (pause) feed and so on until you get more look time outta them.
