In Tricks class today our instructor praised Maya multiple times for being simply AMAZING and told me afterwards that a well behaved 9 month old shepherd (right next to dogs she can't play with) is a miracle!
Maya demonstrated multiple tricks (going from down to a sit on one command, going to a mat and lying down, etc.) and managed to do everything PERFECTLY! I was as surprised as everyone else.. she was having an extra good day I guess? Our trainer also said we were a great pair and asked me to be her assistant trainer for her next session of classes!! |

Haha.. sure. Tell that to Rin Tin Tin
![]() Although the teacher did tell Maya today that she expects more from her because she is a shepherd and therefore smarter than the other dogs in the class. Hopefully my classmates did not overhear that. |

And GSD's can be great at trticks! Our male GSD actually won a Dog Tricks competition show at my wife's company - about 20 dogs get up in front of a large boisterous audience (Charity fund raising event!) and he performed like a proven vetran to win the vote in a landslide dethroning the 2 time champion (some little fluffy white thing!). |
