Default So proud!

Baxter has been developing some bad habits these past few months - barking at anyone and everything from inside the car, going nuts if he sees another dog...all kinds of craziness. We've been searching and searching for the right trainer, and we finally found him on Saturday!

Baxter's first lesson was last night - the first few times, it's all the trainer working with Baxter while we observe and take notes. Our pup was amazing. He caught on very quickly, was unbelievably focused, and didn't even want a break like many dogs that this trainer sees typically do. By the time he asked us what time it was, we only had about 10 minutes left.

I'm just so proud of my pup - our trainer commented that we're going to have an amazing dog if we keep working with him, no questions. He loves to learn, loves to work, and loves to please. He just needs guidance and redirection and we'll be back on track!

Thanks! It makes me happy knowing that he isn't a lost cause. I mean..I know that deep down, but sometimes I just need that reassurance from someone who sees all levels of crazy. It was just so great to sit back and see him work and be reminded of what he truly is capable of!

Your Baxter sounds like my Viktor... the barking in the car and the dog reactive.

I too have been working with a trainer I like and it is helping. When she is on the leash, my boy listens to her so well. It has convinced me that I am the one in need of training.

I just hope Viktor doesn't abandon me before I "get it".

I'm sure you guys will get there! I agree 100% that the training is more for the person than it is for the dog. After all, I'm the one who has let him get away with these bad habits. I have so much to learn with him, and boy is he teaching me a lot about the GSD breed!

Glad you and Viktor have found the right trainer for you as well. Can't wait until our dogs grow to their full potential!
