Default Proud of Holly, even if she isn't a GSD. HAHA

Went to Petsmart today, it is a 2 hour drive one way, so enjoy being able to take Holly with me. She got a new toy and collar and as I was picking out her collar I heard and saw two small children with their mother looking at Holly. They were standing away from us and I heard the little girl say" mommy, can we pet the dog". The mother looked at me, and I smiled and said" no problem". Both children came up to Holly who was sitting beside me, wagging her tail. She shook hands with the mother and both children and gave them kisses. I told the little girl(the little boy was only about 3) that she was a good girl for asking to pet the dog first and not rushing up to her. I said some dogs are not so sure about little kids and might not be as happy as Holly was to see them. It was a great day, Holly got lots of pets and cookies.
As I was checking out, Holly was on a down beside me so I could pay for our items. This man walked up beside us and stood looking at Holly. He asked, rather loudly" what kind of dog is that". I replied a German Shepherd and he said" are you sure? Umm, yea.
I wanted to say, I am pretty sure she is a GSD, at least she was when I got her at 8 weeks, with her paperwork and saw her littermates and sire and dam. yea, probably so. Duh...

UGH! Don't you love idiots? LOL! I'm glad you and Holly had an otherwise great day. She is adorable. Good girl Holly! Not only are you a GSD, but an awesome representative of the breed.

What on earth did he think she was?

You are nicer than me. I would have said something snarky I'm sure.

She is beautiful! For a non shepherd of course!

It drives me NUTS when people try to tell me what a GSD should look like... They have zero knowledge on the subject and love to act like they have all the answers. Why is it so hard to believe that there is more than one "type" of GSD?? I wonder if other breeds with a several coat colors have issues like this...
