So it is a week before our clubs ScH trial and I am in a group of dogs training for the BH test.
The head trainer wants to do the post tie out exercise (dog is tied on a 6' lead and the handler goes out of sight and a calm and friendly dog walks back and forth by the tied out dogat a distance of 6-10' or so)with a calm friendly dog walking by. So he picks Baron (my 3.85 yo male GSD) to be the walking by dog (due to his calm friendly behavior in all of the classes we have been to, he told me later). So we walk back and forth for the other 7 dogs in the group, some of which were very excited. Not a single reaction from my pooch on any of the walks. Now that may not sound like too much, but Baron was banned from group classes a number of months ago in our local obedience club classes due to percieved dog aggression! We have been working VERY hard at his behavior for quite a while and it does seem to be paying off. Very proud of my boy! |
