Great day at Pet's Mart with Jäger

Pet's Mart has been invaluable for me as a training aid with any dog I have ever trained. Today, Jäger (13 wks) was a perfect gentleman. There were several dogs that were acting crazy and Jäger showed very little interest other than what I was doing.

One instance stands out today that I would like to brag about. We were walking around and this lady walks up with her 4 month old Pit Bull pup. This dog was in a padded halter and was pulling and barking like crazy. This lady proceeds to tell us how she is training her dog herself. Normaly I don't judge but she was very snooty. I tried to give her a few pointers and she flat out brushed it off as if I didn't know what I was talking about but sure wanted to give me poonters. At this point she is forcing her dog into a sit without giving no correction or command. Again I offer assistance and she brushes it off but still wants tell me how I should train my dog, go figure.

Here is the great part. Jäger is standing next to me so I tell my wife "watch this". Now, mind you, Jäger is only 13 weeks old. I put Jäger in a down stay about 3 feet away from this pit, drop his lead, and I walk off. I walk down one of the isles. wait for about a minute, and come up on the other side. I walk back up, grab his lead and tell him good boy, tell her to have a nice day, and we walk off.

You should have seen the look on her face, it was priceless!!!

Love it. Petsmart is great for outings, but I try not to interact with people.
