Baron has been with us almost 4 weeks now and is making very good progress. From not knowing ANY commands (even sit) and questionable behaviour he is sitting, laying down, giving paws and staying quite well while asking him to indoors. He is doing much better on-leash after getting the Halti collar and gets lots of walks during the day, one before i go to work and once after i get home. My wife takes him during the day at least once too with potty breaks thrown in there.
Last night we decided to take him down to the tennis court in our neighborhood. I was a little apprehensive as there are a couple of places i thought, if he was really motivated to do so, he could slip under the fence. He hadn't been off-leash yet so you can imagine my concerns. I'd be devastated if he got out and took off, i wouldn't forgive myself! After securing the gate we unleashed him and threw his ball for him to fetch. He lurched after it and a game of fetch-but-don't-give-back-to-daddy ensued! I was careful not to throw the ball close to the suspect areas of the fence, but he played and pranced around really well. It was nice to see him stretch his legs, i knew he needed it, but needed somewhere enclosed for security purposes, as well as my peace of mind. He was pretty tuckered out when we got home but he had a lot of fun which pleased me immensely. I was relieved there were no issues. I was also happy to see him come back to me when called, not a controlled immediate response and not a snap to heel, more like a drive-by with the ball and a face asking "do you want it, do you want it??" Nevertheless, he kinda came back, which is a slightly positive start. We plan to take him down there as much as we can and try to do some play and off leash work. I'm WAY too scared to let him off leash in an open area. The change in his behavior and the picking up on the basic commands give me great hope that in time he's going to be an awesome dog. He is in basic classes right now and we plan on doing other ones once this one is completed. I'm excited by his/our future together. Not to mention he's darn handsome! ![]() [img] ![]() Uploaded with ImageShack.us[/img]

Baron is a very handsome boy, its good that you have a place to go where he can run and stretch out and still be safe. As for him being tired a tired dog is a happy dog. Sounds like you both had a good time.
