Well I have my 11 week old GSD Ace who has been having some issues with play biting too hard and peeing in his crate. Last night I decided to try having him in his crate without a blanket while I went out to dinner with my family for my grandmother’s birthday. We left at about 6:30 and got back to the house at 9:30. Guess what no mess in the crate. I was so proud.
After dinner everyone came to my house for cake and coffee. Ace was a perfect gentleman with an extra 6 people in the house. I had him doing a few things he learned in training class like SIT with just hand signal, touch, and spin (still having a hard time with that). I was worried he was going to have issues with play biting my family members but he was fine. He went back to being nippy this morning but I am still so proud of him. My parents were the breeders so he remembered my dad and was so happy to see him again. These dogs truly are a gift. Despite the lost sleep, mess cleanups, and play biting issues I can't think of another thing I would rather be doing with my time. Entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuk said that he loves what he does so much that it pains him to sleep because he just wants to get up and do it again the next day. I felt that way on a morning walk this morning in the cool early fall air. Sure I was tired but I was starting my day walking the most wonderful German Shepherd Puppy I have ever known. |
