Default Medo and His SAR Progress

Our team does "Swissies" for basic/puppy foundation work in SAR. Esentially we practice the entire sequence of starting, finding the subject, coming back to the handler to indicate, and "refinding" the subject.

Medo is doing a prolonged bark for his indication for me. I started out just letting him bark and do what he wanted, but found quite quickly the long scratches and bruises on my legs from him proping up on my thighs wasn't worth it....so I started to reinforce and bark and sit. I'm not being super picky about moving a little as long as he's not up on me.

I think that he could be a bit more steady in his barking and have less "leaky" whining, but he is now basically flawlessly doing the sequence without seeing the reward first, not having to call back, and no prompt of the indication...and he will not stop with the indication until I tell him to "show me." We are about ready to increase the distance and hopefully in a week or two we will have progressed to "pop ups" where the subject is out of sight. YAY! I think he's doing GREAT since he's only had a few sessions doing this work

Here's two videos of essentially the same thing:

Yeah, all fun and games NOW! When he's 55 pounds!

I didn't really realize how "violent" it was until I did it in shorts a couple times. OUCH!
