I have been working several times a day with our GSD puppy on her training. I keep the sessions short and sweet and she seems to have a great time. She is always eager to train and literally came running and bounded into a sit with her bottom whipping around on the floor to stabilize herself yesterday. It's hard to explain...but it sure was cute!
Anyway, I've been really wanting to know if the training is actually become engrained in her enough to work with her when distractions are present. Today, we got to put it to the test! My brother, who hasn't visited us since we got the dog, came today. He walked in and greeted her. Once she finished up, I called her over and let him stand next to me and talk while I went through some training. She did so well and my brother was so impressed! Her sits and downs were flawless. I was pretty proud myself! It's the small things like this that make my day and let me know that there is hope for this land shark yet! |

i always add in distractions a little bit
at a time. just think of how well trained and socialized your dog is going to be in a year. it will give you the chills.
