Today we went down to Waterford to see all the tall ships as there is big event going on over the weekend. We decided to bring Rio as I felt terrible leaving her the whole day alone and thought she'd enjoy the sights and smells.
The entire town was crawling with people as there was a fun fair, outdoor concert, fireworks and the whole place was full of food stalls from all over the world. We had to park about a 30 min walk from the quay as everywhere was so busy. At the entrance A police man stopped us to pet Rio and check that she was ok with children and other animals, I assured him that she was great around everyone and he loved on her for a while (she swooned for him )Rio did amazingly walking past all the crowds (even when it got a little cramped) and didn't show any interest in noisy rides and strange goings on. She even ignored all the children carrying sweets right under her noes. We bought her a colourful bandana at a stall to make her a little less intimidating and she wore it proudly as we strolled around. She let children hug her and stroke her and gave gentle kisses with no jumping. Ignored the parade and police horses. She even ignored a few growling ankle biters without so much as a blink! (I wonder if the police checked their tempements before they came in??) It was a wonderful day, I'm so proud of my girl and she has been asleep since we got back. Really happy with her calmness and her obedience. ![]() We left before the fireworks started as I didn't want to push my luck but I was just as sleepy as she was by then. (Loving her bandana btw, its multi coloured camo and I must get pics) |
