And Gunnar and Cass did great as well. (Can't leave them out)
Shadow is our current foster that we've had for 3 1/2 weeks. He's right around a year old, weighs just over 90 lbs and has the personality of a 12 week old puppy. He was abused by his previous owner. New foster terrified of toys. He's been pretty much afraid of new people and strangers and will bark and run away or hide from them. (At least he's not aggressive with them) Because it was almost perfect weather here yesterday, we ended up with one of those impromptu Sunday BBQ's at our house. We had some friends and their 4 kids from out of town stop by on their way home from a weekend outing as well as Audrey's sister and 3 kids here. Shadow had 3 strange adults and 7 kids (15,14,13,9,7,6 and 10 weeks) to deal with. For the most part, the dogs and kids were outside for most of the time and that was awesome. Shadow kept his distance at first, but only had a few "hey dad & mom, there's some strange people here" barks and then he just kind of lurked at a distance. Of course, Cass and Gunnar were all over the lovin' they got from the kids and were in heaven when I broke out the frisbees and kongs for the kids to throw. It didn't take too long for Shadow to creep up a bit closer and give a few quick sniffs and try and check everyone out. I told all the kids to just ignore him and pretend he wasn't there. That worked, for the most part, but whenever someone would try and pet him, he'd move away. Shadow did manage to play a little bit of fetch and tug with my 13 YO niece. After a couple of hours of outside play, we went inside to wait for supper. I had Shadow drag a 4' lead around. I didn't need it since he didn't leave my side the whole time, but not one bark and he even let a few people give him a few pets. (Of course, the people that gave him piece of carrot or chip got first pet) He was awesome and has come a long way in just over 3 weeks. Of course, Gunnar was his usual, goofy self when it comes to babies/toddlers. Whoever was holding the baby had Gunnar planted in front of them, keeping watch. Whenever the baby would giggle/cry/make any other noise, Gunnar was all over it. Like it was his job to babysit and make sure you were doing everything right with the baby. At the end of the day, all 3 dogs curled up early and went to sleep. So far this morning, they've managed to get up for potty and breakfast and now they're all just laying here. So proud of all of them today. (My sister-in-law was nervous about our dogs being too rough with the baby. She just LOVES Gunnar and threatens to steal him all the time. By the end of the evening, she was willing to pay him to come over and stay with her and the kids when her husband is out of town)

Way to go Shadow! He's such a lucky boy to have ended up in your home (even if it's just for a while).
