Default Dakoda's New Friends

This weekend I began volunteering for a local animal shelter for their adoption day. I spent today and yesterday rehoming dogs at Petco. It was a great experience. We had two dogs adopted (yayy! ). Yesterday was kind of stressful without any of my babies to keep me from getting attached. But the woman in charge told me that if they were friendly, I could bring one of my dogs today. So when I loaded up today, Koda came with me. She was a perfect lady pretty much the whole time. She was twice as big as the two pit mixes (which were the largest there), and was still a gentle, sweet baby. She got along especially well with a boxer/lab pup named Mouse and a pit/dalmation named Harley. We only had one setback, and that was due to the other pit mix, Tootsie. She attacked Mouse, and so Dakoda attacked her in Mouse's defense. We broke up the fight and made them both submit. After that, they were all playing together and were just fine. I actually had a few people asking if they could adopt her!!! She helped bring a couple of the dogs out of their shells and did not make any moves to start fights or act aggressively towards people. And she finally completely ignored the two treat bars, for the first time.
One of the dogs we got adopted out was a shepherd mix puppy named Seoul. Despite how self-righteous it may sound, I think that Dakoda had a lot to do with it. The mother was hesitant about a shepherd mix but when she saw how Koda behaved, she decided that if the pup remained socialized she would be a great dog. Yay!!! I'm so proud of her!!! We'll be going to help out with adoption day again two weeks from now, and I think Koda is as excited as I am.

Way to go Dakoda! Keep helping those pups get adopted.
