So Ozzy is a shy, anxious kind of dog. I take him to classes for socialization as well as on errands, etc. He does well for the most part. He does not do well in dog parks, he can't take the chaos and he feels it is his job not to let another dog get within 5 feet of me.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how Ozzy can get more time with other dogs in a more relaxed environment than a class. I found out about a new business a local guy has started up called "Canine Adventures." He basically serves as a guide, taking owners and their dogs on 2 to 3 hour hikes on the weekends and during the week. Ozzy and I attended our first hike last Saturday and I was so proud of him! Most of the hike was off leash and he had the time of his life. He was so well behaved. Came when I called, came out of the water when I called, and had a great time with the other dogs, including another GSD, Cisco, a very confident boy. Anyway, just wanted to brag a little. Ozzy didn't feel the need to keep the other dogs away from me as he was really enjoying the hike. We showed off our obedience skills, and he made a new friend in Cisco. So proud of my boy!
