Default A couple brags for Miko!

I haven't done these for Miko even though he's done me proud so many times before (puppy graduation, socializing outings, etc). But I'll write about the past two days, because I have time and because he's been kinda buttheady lately so these really stuck out.

Last night, it was my family (house of 11ish people) all eating dinner in the living room + Miko. This is probably one of Miko's favorite time of the day, as everyone gives him a bit of their food in exchange for a trick. It keeps him on his toes because everyone asks for different things. Also, it's a good opportunity for NILIF from the whole family. This time, Miko outsmarted everyone. He understood my uncle had the STEAK and my uncle told him "Remote" (which means fetch the remote). Mind you, we have a whole bowl of remotes hidden in the corner, that we don't use anymore. So he grabs the one he sees on the table. "Yay, remote = steak." In 5 minutes, my uncle had about 6 or 7 remotes on his lap. Miko looked really proud of himself, so he couldn't help but reward him.

Today, I went to the Apple store to pick up my laptop, which I dropped off yesterday to see what was wrong with it (600 dollars to fix it? Ew.). When I dropped it off yesterday, there were two other large dogs with their owners, so I asked the guy helping me out if they usually minded, he said no so I brought Miko the next day. He was perfect! He was sitting by my side patiently while they got my laptop. I put him in a down and he listened right away. He was in the way, so I made him crawl forward a little and everyone pretty much noticed and soon a crowd gathered. He sat nicely for pets and hugs from a couple kids.

Also, his training has been going along great. He's heeled past dogs playing around him, he's done 5 minute stays with dogs and children playing right next to him at the park, recall is pretty much flawless. I'm really proud of my boy. Main thing is he's still a little fearful of other dogs since he's gotten attacked, but it's not his fault at all. And he kinda is still iffy about strange things, but I'm working on counterconditioning that.

Thanks for reading my brag about my favorite GSD!
