1st trip to Petsmart!

I haven't gotten a chance to take Alexa to Petsmart yet because the closest one is about 45 minutes away, so it's not super convenient. This afternoon I had a few free hours and decided it would be fun to take her down and get her a new toy, and talk to the staff about a head collar (this little girl has been PULLING like a Husky lately!).

She waltzed right in like she had been there a hundred times. Didn't pay any attention to the automatic doors, people with carts, a girl on crutches (big surprise to me, she was afraid last time she saw crutches!), or anything else. We spent about a half hour walking around saying hi to everyone, and sniffing every square inch of the store, and even trying to steal a hermit crab shell from a shelf

Several people commented on how well behaved she was (if only she could do this at home I thought), and when I stopped to talk to someone she sat patiently by my side.

A beautiful adult male GSD came in a few minutes after us, and he was a very large dog, but Alexa went right for him (I really think she knows she's a GSD) and she looked so tiny still next to him

So I asked one of the staff about a head collar, and she recommended a harness, because she was worried people would think the collar was a muzzle and be frightened, especially because of the breed (she has 2 GSD's herself). We tried out a harness and Alexa was wonderful about the woman handling her legs and feet to put the harness on, no squirming at all! The harness turned out to be great, Alexa cut back quite a bit on the pulling right away, but I was more excited about the fact that she was so good with being handled and manipulated by strangers. We tried two different harnesses and decided on a lovely pink number

Alexa got a bully stick as a treat, which I'm sure she will love.

I'm very proud of my girl today!
