Ddr too much
hey guys, I'm looking at two breeding. One is between two ddr dogs, other is ddr male and Czech female. I am looking for am active family member that is not a sports dog. I want a dog that can do club level sports, and not a dog bred for high drives for sports, but I want the suspicion and protective nature. What are some of difference between the straight ddr vs ddr and Czech mix? Which do you think will fit my needs?

You've asked similar questions in other posts and also said in a previous post that you want to do "schutzhund, obedience and other sports". Are you sure you know what you want?

I have /had both.

My ddr dogs for the most part, would have no way been good in schutzhund, that is just "mine", can't speak for others..Great obedience dogs/herding. But lacked fight drive.

Tho my thing is not schutzhund/high level sports, I couldn't say if my female (ddr/czech) would be good at it, never tested her.

She is high maintenance tho, and thank god she's matured with an off switch, tho still a VERY busy girl. She would not do well in an inactive home.

Since you''ve been looking all over the place with different lines/breeders.

My suggestion is to decide what you want to do, and find a breeder who is DOING IT.

Forget the lines/ find a breeder who is doing what you want to do, and go with it.

You should post the pedigrees of the parents, then people would be able to give you some insight into what you might want to expect from the breedings. Just saying 100% ddr or 50% ddr/czech doesn't give people enough information to go on.

Each puppy will be an individual, they'll follow certain traits that their bloodlines pass on, but unless you have had decades of experience with the different "lines" that you're speaking of, you won't be able to tell the difference. Each dog will have their own personality differences and as long as both sires and dams have been tested, trained, and titled, the puppies should be capable of doing what you need them to do. If neither of the parents have IPO titles, well then you're risking that the puppies won't be capable of it.

You'll just need to speak with the breeders, let them know what you want to do, and make sure they match you up with the right puppy for what you want.
