My suggestion would be to go to some agility events see if there are some GSDs competing and talk to their owners

The last trial we competed in there were 4 GSD's there. 2 working line, 1 rescue, and my ASL.

You should look for a body type and level of drive -- short back, not too heavy in front, and a strong work ethic. Food or toy drive helps alot.

We have one from our W litter (19 mos old) that just earned both his AX (Agility Excellent) and AXJ (Agility Excellent Jumper) titles. After the 1st of the year, he'll be running for points and QQ's towards his MACH.

One from our current A2 litter, Aria, is going to an agility home up by Wero (aka Storm) :-)

I train with Storm and Erin. He is a fabulous dog! Short back so that he can motor thru the weaves, not so heavy in front so that he can turn sharply, and a strong work ethic.

Generally it helps to stay on the smaller side. Much more impact on our dogs if they are over standard or on the larger size the twists/turns/landings. The tunnels are 24" high, so when our dogs are tall they really have to hunch down to tear thru.

So we want the drives and work ethic in a dog. But to stay around 24" and 75 poundish is ideal on the high side. Clearly smaller is even better But larger is more challenging for our pups.
